- Bull Run Regional Park. Acres (literally) of bluebells in April. There's a fee, but if you go on a weekday it's usually waived. http://www.nvrpa.org/parks/bullrun/index.php
- Green Springs Garden Park. Rose gardens, shade gardens, manor house, ponds - Green Springs has it all. Best of all, it's free. www.co.fairfax.va.us/parks/gsgp/
- Oatlands Plantation. Formal gardens and a handsome plantation house. Artists who register for their fall show may enter the grounds for free. www.oatlands.org
- Old Rose Garden and Ben Lomond Manor House. Small, but worth a visit. Fabulous roses, and the house is nice too. Free. http://www.benlomondmanorhouse.org
