April
- 16 April 2008 Sherry Smith Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. till finished
After the PWAS business meeting, Sherry Smith, will present a program following the development of her work with colored pencils and mixed media to pieces to show. Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Akron with a double major in Ceramics and Painting, and is a member of the Art League, Alexandria, VA, Prince William Art Society, The Greater Reston Arts Center, the Colored Pencil Society of America and the Loft Gallery. Her current works combine her love of clay and painting with hand embroidery and other embellishments to produce a series of mixed-media "paper quilts". - 19-20 April 2008 PWAS Spring Show See the PWAS home page for details

- 21 May 2008 Scholarship Award Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. till finished
After the PWAS business meeting, PWAS officers will present the first Jewell Pratt Burns ART Scholarship award to two local students selected through competion within local area high schools for their high level of present skill and their promise of future accomplishments in the Fine Arts.

- 7-8 June 2008 Spring Edition of the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show. See the PWAS home page for details
- 18 June 2008 Carol Higgs Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. till finished.
Carol Higgs will present her technique for creating beautifully dyed batik
images which she then uses as a "canvas" on which she paints landscapes, people,
animals and other scenes. Ms. Higgs trained as an art teacher at Ohio State
University, and has been exploring and teaching batik for over 20 years.
